Laurentian University Social Work Association (LUSWA)

The LUSWA is organized and operated by a group of elected individuals dedicated to serving Laurentian University Social Work students at the Barrie campus and is responsible for representing the voice of these students.



The purpose of LUSWA shall be to:

a) be accountable to the needs and concerns of social work students on the Barrie campus of Laurentian University (LU)

b) to enhance the social work students university experience by cultivating leadership, and student empowerment

c) continue to foster/develop the social work program for current and future membership.

The LUSWA will actualize its purpose by:

a) conducting regular roundtable discussions that include elected executive, student representatives, faculty and open student participation

b) engage in regular communication with applicable LU faculty

c) adhere to the discretion of the collective student body in regards to student events and extracurricular events

d) challenging LU School of Social Work policies and procedures where/when necessary.
